Chatz Cellular (Pty) Ltd (“Chatz Connect”) is running their Birthday Competition (“the Competition”) where customers who sign up for a new contract or upgrade during the birthday campaign period, stand a chance to win a share of R500,000 (five hundred thousand Rand) in prizes.

All participants during the term of the Competition agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions:

  1. The Competition runs from 6 October 2019 and ends at 12h00 midnight on 7 November 2019 (“the promotion period”). Any entries received after the closing date will not be considered for the competition.
  2. There is R500,000 (five hundred thousand Rand) in prizes to be won – broken down as follows:
    • Main prizes (any new or upgraded contract during the birthday competition will qualify – these prizes will be drawn at the end of the promotion period):
      1. One R100,000 (one hundred thousand Rand) Samsung Store voucher sponsored by Samsung – total value R100,000 (one hundred thousand Rand);
      2. Two R25,000 (twenty thousand Rand) prizes  sponsored by Nokia – total value R50,000 (fifty thousand Rand);
      3. One home make-over valued at R25,000 (twenty five thousand Rand) sponsored by Hisense – including a fridge, TV and microwave – total value R25,000 (twenty five thousand Rand);
    • Vodacom contract prizes – these prizes will be drawn at the end of the promotion period:
      1. 5 (five) fibre customers can win Free Fibre subscription for 3 months – sign up for a new fibre line during the promotion period to qualify.
      2. 15 (fifteen) customers win Free subscription for 12 months – sign up for any new contract during the promotion period to qualify.
      3. 5 (five) Business LTE customers can win back their full subscription – sign up for a 40Gb Business LTE contract during the promotion period to qualify.
    • Specific prizes (any new or upgraded contract during signed on a specific day will qualify):
      1. 25 (twenty-five) LG monitors valued at R3000 each (three thousand Rand) sponsored by LG – total value R75,000 (seventy-five thousand Rand);
    • Spontaneous prizes – these prizes will be handed out instore at the discretion of Chatz Connect promotional staff:
      1. CAT prizes valued at R65,000 (sixty-five thousand Rand) sponsored by CAT – including 25x CAT battery packs 10,000 mAh, 25x CAT sunglasses and 25x LandRover bicycle mounts; and
      2. Huawei prizes valued at R32,900 (thirty-two thousand nine hundred Rand) sponsored by Huawei – including 1x Huawei Y9 Prime, 1x Huawei GT Watch, 10x Huawei Band 2 Pro and 10x Bluetooth speakers;
      3. Accessories (headphones and speakers) sponsored by APEX – total value R3,800 (three thousand eight hundred Rand).
      4. 25 (twenty-five) Playstation Classic gaming consoles
      5. 25 (twenty-five) VR Headsets
  3. Each of the above prizes may have different qualifying criteria as determined by Chatz Connect.
  4. Chatz Connect shall not be liable for any cost outside of the prize values as stated above – other than delivery of the prizes to the winners. Prizes will only be delivered within the borders of South Africa.
  5. There are various ways to enter, all eligible entries to share in the above prizes as determined by Chatz Connect:
    • Sign up for a new contract; or
    • Upgrade at any Chatz Connect store nationwide (“participating stores”)
    • During the promotion period.
  6. Every approved new or upgraded contracts as stipulated above will be entered into the Competition. Only entries received during the promotion period as stipulated in clause 1 above will qualify as potential winners.
  7. The winners will be randomly selected from all eligible entries which meet the requirements set out in these Terms and Conditions. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  8. The Competition is only open to natural persons 18 years or older. Entries received from business accounts held by legal persons (amongst others Corporates and SMEs, etc.) are excluded from participating and winning in the Competition.
  9. Entrants are allowed to enter as many times as they like, but are only eligible to win once for the duration of the Competition.
  10. The selected winners must be able to identify themselves (in a manner determined by Chatz Connect) as the qualifying entrants to the Competition and have to comply with the required validation procedure in order to claim the prizes. Any requested documentation is to be provided to Chatz Connect or their representative within 48 hours of request.
  11. The selected winners must have complied with these Terms and Conditions to enter.
  12. There are no additional charges for participating in the Competition.
  13. All risks and ownership of the prize shall pass to the winner on transfer/delivery thereof and hence all Chatz Connect obligations in regard to the Competition as well as in regard to the prize shall terminate. Chatz Connect will advise of arrangements in respect of the prize distribution at the time of contacting the selected winner.
  14. The promoter is not responsible for any undelivered prizes due to any incorrect details being provided by the winners.
  15. Notwithstanding the fact the prize vests on the winner immediately upon the determination of the results, any prize that remains unclaimed / undeliverable after a month of transfer or no reasonable effort is made on the part of the winners to claim the prize despite having been advised of the results of the Competition will be forfeited.
  16. The winners (other than the spontaneous winners instore) will be contacted during working hours (08h00 to 17h00) by phone on or after the draw date, using the cell phone number associated with his / her new or upgraded contract.
  17. Chatz Connect will use reasonable efforts to contact the winner telephonically on the contract cellphone number. Chatz Connect shall attempt to contact the winner for a period of 2 (two) working days after his / her name has been drawn and verified as a winner.
  18. Should a participant not be available on the contact number during the timeframe stipulated or reject, forfeit or decline acceptance of the prize, that person’s right to the prize will be deemed to have been waived and the prize will be forfeited. Chatz Connect reserves the right to then award the prize to the next selected entrant.
  19. If a winner cannot accept the prize for any reason whatsoever, the prize will be awarded to the next selected qualifying entrant.
  20. Chatz Connect reserves the right to withhold any prize until it is satisfied that the claim by the winner is valid.
  21. Chatz Connect shall request the winner’s consent in writing to their image and/or likeness being used and published by Chatz Connect in connection with the Competition for a period of 12 (twelve) months after they have been announced as winners. The winner may decline the use of his/her image and/or likeness by Chatz Connect.
  22. The winner’s names and location may be displayed on Chatz Connect Social Media Assets as well as on screens / in-store TV within Chatz Connect Approved sales channels.
  23. Prizes are not transferable, non-refundable, non-exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash, or returned to Chatz Connect stores.
  24. Once the prize is delivered, the responsibility passes to the winner and no lost, stolen or damaged prizes will be replaced.
  25. The judges’ decision on any aspect of the Competition including the allocation of the prize will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
  26. In the event of a dispute regarding any aspect of the Competition and/or the Terms and Conditions, Chatz Connect’s decision will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
  27. Employees, directors, agents and suppliers of Chatz Connect and all participating stores, their immediate families, life partners, business partners and associates and any person directly involved with the sponsoring, devising, production, management or marketing of this Competition are not eligible to participate in this Competition.
  28. The duration of the Competition may be extended or curtailed at the discretion of Chatz Connect.
  29. Chatz Connect is not liable for any technical failures affecting participation and / or prize redemption process of the Competition.
  30. Chatz Connect shall not be liable for taxes or any costs incurred by the winners for entering the Competition or in claiming the prize.
  31. Neither Chatz Connect nor any other person or party associated with the Competition, their associated companies, agents, contractors and sponsors and any of its personnel involved in the Competition, shall be liable whatsoever for any loss or damage incurred or suffered (including but not limited to direct or indirect or consequential loss), death or personal injury suffered or sustained arising from either participation in the Competition or from claiming the prize or after claiming the prize.
  32. In addition, neither Chatz Connect nor its agents shall be responsible for any loss or misdirected entries, including entries that were not received due to any failure of hardware, software, or other computer or technical systems affecting participating and/or prize redemption process of the Competition.
  33. If Chatz Connect is required by law to alter or cancel any aspect of the Competition or to terminate it because of changes in legislation, or for any reason whatsoever, it will have the right to terminate the Competition being offered, with immediate effect and without notice. In such event all entrants hereby waive any rights which they may have against Chatz Connect and its associated companies, agents, contractors and/or sponsors.
  34. Chatz Connect may refuse to award the prize if these Terms and Conditions have not been adhered to or if it detects any irregularities or fraudulent practices. Chatz Connect is entitled in its entire discretion to reject any participant for any reason and will not be obliged to notify that they are rejected.
  35. All information relating to the Competition which is published on any marketing material will form part of these Terms and Conditions. In the event of any conflict between such marketing material and these Terms and Conditions, these Terms and Conditions shall prevail.
